Autism tends to run in families. It changes inbound genes it increases the chance that a toddler can develop the syndrome. If a parent carries one or a lot of of those factor changes, they will get passed to a toddler (even if the parent doesn’t have autism).
Other times, these genetic changes arise spontaneously in an early embryo or the sperm and/or egg that combine to create the embryo. I’ll tell you again the bulk of those factor changes don’t cause syndrome by themselves.

What is Autism?
I have checked other resources on the internet. And found this:
We know that there is not one autism but many subtypes, most influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Because autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism has a distinct set of strengths and challenges. The ways in which people with autism learn, think and problem-solve can range from highly skilled to severely challenged. Some people with ASD may require significant support in their daily lives, while others may need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently.
According to Autismspeaks
https://www.autismspeaks.org/what-autism
They have a good point of view and talks about if a child has developed autism they experience medical issues, mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression and attention issues.
A person who has Autism needs all the love and care. You must develop patience.
Autism is not an illness
When you are Autistic it does not mean you have a disease in your body or you are ill. It simply means that your body and brain works but in a way that it is different from other people.
Being Autistic is something you are born with and you are autistic your whole life.
This is not a medical condition wherein you will have a treatment or cure. But mostly you need support for some certain things to do in daily living.

So, Is Autism Hereditary?
WEDNESDAY, July 17, 2019 (HealthDay News) — The largest study of its kind, involving more than 2 million people across five countries, finds that autism spectrum disorders are 80% reliant on inherited genes.
https://www.webmd.com/brain/autism/news/20190717/autism-largely-caused-by-genetics-not-environment-study#1
That means that environmental causes are responsible for just 20% of the risk.
So, This is the greatest study that ever happened in history in which they have studied the Autism if it is caused by Hereditary or Caused by the environment in which the mother is carrying the baby for 9 months.
There are a lot of issues and studies going on, whether it is caused by the environment. For example, if the baby has vaccines and it will develop ASD.
There is also another answer from Wikipedia that says:
“A substantial fraction of autism may be highly heritable but not inherited: that is, the mutation that causes the autism is not present in the parental genome.“
What this means is that ASD is caused by the mutation of genes.

Conclusion
There is a lot of still ongoing research whether it is hereditary or environmental which triggers ASD to develop.
But what really matters is the Love that we will give into our child or partner who has developed ASD.
They need all the love and support.
